Breath

“Radiant one, this experience may dawn between two breaths…”

(Vijñanabhairava Tantra)

A solo recital including pieces for voice, soprano sax, didjeridoo and pre-recorded backgrounds, it is structured like a long breath, point of both departure and arrival for sounds which cross the sond-universe according to completely individual space-time coordinates. Thus the two movements from the Bach Partita BWW 1013 for solo flute, which in a manner of speaking frame the whole concert, are treated by Roberto Laneri the way he imagines some of his favorite jazz saxophonists might have done. On the other hand, Spiritual by John Coltrane becomes a vehicle for overtone singing in the style of an Indian raga, in which only overtones which coincide with the notes of the theme are chosen.
